ARE WOOLWICH DAIRY PRODUCTS GLUTEN-FREE?
The cheeses manufactured by Saputo do not contain gluten as an intentionally added ingredient. Our products are also prepared under good manufacturing procedures and do not contain levels of gluten exceeding 20ppm due to cross contamination.

ARE WOOLWICH DAIRY PRODUCTS PRODUCED IN A ‘NUT-FREE’ FACILITY?
We are pleased to report that nuts (including peanuts) are not permitted within the processing areas of our production facility.

WHY DO YOUR INGREDIENTS READ "CONTAINS: MILK"?
Cow’s milk media is used in the fermentation process when making bacterial cultures, an integral ingredient in cheese making. Even though the cow’s milk allergen represents a very small fraction of the bacterial culture, per current regulations, cow’s milk is identified as an allergen and must be called-out separately with other recognized allergens. We proudly make all of our goat goodness with 100% fresh Canadian goat milk.

WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF VITAMIN A AND VITAMIN D IN MILK?
Milk naturally contains some vitamin A and vitamin D. Vitamin A and D are fat-soluble vitamins. When milk fat is removed to produce skim, 1% and 2% milk, the naturally-occurring vitamins are decreased. Under federal regulations, the level of these vitamins must be added back to a specific amount. To do this, we add vitamins A and D from a synthetic source (non-animal): vitamin A palmitate is derived synthetically and vitamin D is derived from lanolin extracted from sheep’s wool. Vitamin D enhances calcium and phosphorus absorption and utilization.

ARE WOOLWICH DAIRY PRODUCTS LACTOSE-FREE?
All milk contains a certain level of lactose, therefore Woolwich Dairy goat cheese is not lactose-free. However, goat milk contains less naturally occurring lactose compared to cow's milk.

ARE WOOLWICH DAIRY PRODUCTS MADE WITH PASTEURIZED MILK?
Yes, all of our products are made with pasteurized goat milk.

WHAT KIND OF SALT DO YOU USE IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
We use sea salt in our Soft Fresh Goat Cheese and evaporated salt in our Feta, Cheddar and Mozzarella items.

CAN I EAT THE RIND OF YOUR WOOLWICH DAIRY BRIE?
It's always OK to eat the cheese rind unless it is clearly labeled not to do so. As a general rule, if it looks similar to the skin of a fruit, give it a try. If it's starting to look more like the crust on your baguette, you can try it if you want to, but it may not be as tasty as when it was at its peak. The rind is subjective, and there's no right or wrong way to approach it. Eating the rind offers the palate more flavor and texture.

CAN YOU FREEZE UNOPENED GOAT CHEESE WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE QUALITY AND TEXTURE?

If you decide you want to freeze unopened goat cheese, we only advise freezing our Soft Fresh Goat Cheese.

HOW LONG ARE WOOLWICH DAIRY PRODUCTS GOOD FOR AFTER BEING OPENED?

Once the product  is opened, its shelf life will vary as it will be impacted by the environmental conditions and manipulation of the product. We recommend consuming our products within a few days after opening.

IS YOUR GOAT CHEESE ‘VEGETARIAN’?
Yes, our goat cheese is made with vegetable based microbial enzymes that are animal rennet free.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SERVE WOOLWICH DAIRY GOAT CHEESE?
We suggest taking the cheese out of the refrigerator to temper, up to 45 minutes prior to serving.

SINCE THE SAPUTO ACQUISITION (OCTOBER 2015), HAVE YOUR RECIPES AND/OR INGREDIENTS CHANGED?
Happy to report that all of our recipes and ingredients have remained the same. We continue to craft our goat goodness with the same love and traditional methods.

WHAT ANIMAL WELFARE STANDARDS DO YOU ABIDE BY?
Our position as a global leader in dairy processing comes with responsibility, and we use it to promote animal care and appropriate handling practices. We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for any act of animal cruelty. To learn more about our promise for responsible sourcing, please visit saputo.com.
