Orangeville SPCA
The Orangeville and District Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is responsible for investigations into complaints of animal cruelty and neglect. They also provide dog licenses and care for lost and abandoned pets until they can be reunited with their owners or adopted into loving
forever homes. Check their website often for monthly fundraising opportunities and campaigns that benefit the shelter - and of course - for pictures and descriptions of animals that are in need of loving homes - especially cats!
It Adds Up -- 1 home + 1 cat = 1 complete family
The kids are back in school, it’s a time for change and new activities, and what better time to introduce a new member of the family to the household when routines are back in full swing. The Ontario SPCA Orangeville and District Branch is encouraging families to practise their math, and add a cat to their families! Each year, thousands of kittens are born during spring and summer -- and many end up in animal shelters where they, along with many adult cats, are waiting for loving homes. Adoptions of these playful, affectionate animals into your family will help give a loving pet a chance and a new home. Come visit the fabulous felines at the Orangeville and District Branch and take home your new best friend!
We have cats of all ages, sizes and breeds eligible for adoption. Visit the adoption centre or click online to see the many amazing cats looking for a new home “, says Branch Manager, Carol Hulcoop. “A cat can make a difference in your life in so many ways: Cats are very clean -- they bathe themselves! Cats do not need to be housebroken -- using the litter box comes naturally to them. Cats do not need a lot of space. They are perfect pets for apartments and smaller homes. Taking care of a cat can help teach a child responsibility and humane values. Cats get plenty of exercise living indoors. Just 15 minutes of playtime each day will satisfy a cat.”
In response to an unusually high number of senior and long term resident cats in the adoption centre, the Orangeville and District Branch is offering reduced adoption fees for a limited time. Cats over 6 years of age and those adult cats who have been waiting the longest for their new forever families.
The reduced adoption fees still include vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip.
