Working with our Community

Woolwich Dairy is extremely involved in its surrounding community.

Each year, the company participates in numerous fundraising opportunities, benefiting organizations such as the Ontario SPCA, Orangeville Concert Association, 4H, the Salvation Army, Orangeville Police and Headwaters Healthcare.

In August 2005, Tony Dutra, CEO of Woolwich Dairy, announced that he would donate $50,000 towards an establishment that will be built to house new doctors to the area while they find permanent housing.

From 2002-2007, Woolwich Dairy participated in a charity golf tournament, and in 2007, they raised more than $75,000 for Family Transition Place in Orangeville that would go towards youth education programs.

Woolwich Dairy has been an advocate of MADD, even donating a Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle to combat against impaired driving and ensure a safer community. Woolwich also sponsors events such as Business Industry Luncheons, local teams, golf tournaments, the Orangeville, Erin and Grand Valley Agricultural Fall Fairs, the Dragon Boat Festival, and is a long-time member of the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce.

On September 1, 2009, a $25,000 donation was made on behalf of Woolwich Dairy to CHEO and the Big Steps Program.
The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario is a health care centre dedicated to providing comprehensive care to children and young people in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. Founded in 1974, CHEO offers a range of medical services for patients from birth through 18 years of age.

The hospital receives 6,000 inpatient admissions each year, and its outpatient programs handle more than 240,000 patient visits annually. The Emergency Department handles on average 150 visits per day.

Approximately 775 medical staff, approximately 600 nursing staff, more than 1,200 full/part time employees and 487 volunteers work at CHEO.

CHEO is the primary paediatric teaching hospital of the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine. Through the work of its Research Institute, CHEO maintains a growing reputation for major research into diseases and health problems afflicting children. These include muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, pain, hamburger disease, cystic fibrosis, teenage suicide, and new drug therapies.

BIG STEPS:
The BIG STEPS campaign is a fundraising initiative which will enable CHEO to take a quantum leap forward in essential lifesaving research and total patient care. The funds raised will allow CHEO to attract the best research minds, physicians and health care providers to our hospital and equip them with the advanced tools and technologies they need to care for and cure our kids.
